Delivery, Returns & Refunds
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE
All orders for goods placed by you via the online order form shall be deemed to be an offer by you, the buyer, to purchase goods pursuant to these Terms and Conditions outlined below. You, the buyer, shall be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the details provided in your order and we will not be obliged to accept an order unless all details requested have been provided correctly.
Within the United Kingdom it is illegal for any person under the age of 18 to buy, or attempt to buy, alcohol for themselves or for any other person under the age of 18. If you purchase a ticket to an event which has alcohol involved and you cannot confirm you are over the age of 18 you will be refused entry and not refunded.
Pricing
All prices are shown in GBP (British Pound). The total price we charge you for the goods in your order includes all applicable taxes payable in the UK. Prices shown on the site for any products or services offered are subject to change without notice. Any price changes will be notified and confirmed to you before despatch to give you the opportunity to cancel your order.
Prices shown for products on the site are not inclusive of the delivery charge. You will be advised of the charge of delivery on the checkout page. There is a 1.4% booking charge on most products due to the payment gateway (Stripe) charges.
Payment
We do not store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties (more information in our privacy policy below)
All tickets and/or products offered are subject to availability and we cannot guarantee the availability of the products listed.
If we are unable to fulfil your order we will contact you within 3 working days of receiving your order.
Authority for payment must be given at the time of order. You will be automatically charged for your order once your payment details have been accepted. Our liability to you in connection with any order will not exceed the total price charged for the relevant items.
Acceptance
As all products and services are subject to availability, there will be no contract of any kind between you and us unless and until we actually process and dispatch the tickets and/or products to you. At any point up until then, we may decline to supply the tickets and/or products to you without giving any reason.
We ship weekly due to our remote location. DHL and Menzies are the couriers we use.
We can deliver to your home or work address, as you have entered it on the order. We cannot accept any liability if the quoted address is incorrect or incomplete. Deliveries to work addresses shall be deemed successful if a representative at that address accepts and signs for the goods.
We will always do our best to fulfil your order as quickly as possible. We ship to our courier once a week due to the remote location of the Distillery. If tickets and/or products fail to arrive three days before your scheduled event, please contact us and we will do our best to rectify this. We do our best to secure delivery in time for your scheduled event, but shall not be liable for loss occasioned by delay in delivery arising out of any cause beyond our control.
In the event that the order is returned to us by the courier or otherwise due to non-delivery, Dornoch Whisky Festival gives the purchaser the option of resending the purchase at the purchaser’s expense or refunding the purchase less the cost of postage and packing. We cannot deliver to PO boxes.
Refund & Cancellations
We understand that circumstances can change, and we have implemented various refund policies to accommodate different events as part of the Dornoch Whisky Festival.
For the Grand Tasting, you are eligible for a full refund up until the same day of the event. Please inform us in advance, as we can refund your ticket and potentially sell it to another attendee at the door. However, if you fail to notify us before the event begins, we won’t be able to provide a refund.
Regarding events hosted at other venues, outside of the Grand Tasting, we accept returns for ticketed events with no questions asked if the request is made at least one week prior to the event date. This normally allows us sufficient time to resell your ticket. However, after that one-week period, it is at the discretion of the venue to decide whether they will provide a refund for your ticket.
In both instances, if you wish to cancel an existing order, please contact the Dornoch Whisky Festival directly here.
Privacy Policy
The Dornoch Whisky Festival holds its registered address at C/O: The Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Golf Road, Dornoch, IV25 3LW. We are a committee-run festival held annually in Dornoch and our main aim is to create a centre of excellence for whisky in Dornoch, building on the success of many wonderful independently-owned businesses that contribute to the Dornoch Whisky Festival. As such, we collect your data so that we can keep you up to date with everything. This Privacy Policy has lots of information in it to why we have your data, what we do with it and how we use it. (Grab yourself a dram and settle in).
We collect data on two main occasions: When you sign up for our newsletters through the Dornoch Whisky Festival website and when you purchase tickets through our website.
Occasionally, at Dornoch Whisky Festival events we will give you the option for you to give us your details so that we can add you to our list manually and send you the newsletter.
If you purchase tickets for the Dornoch Whisky Festival, we take your e-mail address, first and last name and mailing address.
We believe that the reason we take your e-mail address to send you a newsletter is self-explanatory but when purchasing tickets through our website, we take further details so that we can analyse these after the festival. For example, if you reside in the Arctic circle, we can give ourselves a pat on the back that you came all that way to our festival. But seriously, we collect the data to further improve our marketing and make it more relevant and of course, to see where we can improve the festival in general.
If you have purchased a ticket for the Dornoch Whisky Festival you may be sent out a survey after the event to see what we could do better and what we did well. You are under no obligation to fill this in and any data you do provide in future surveys is anonymous, even to us. Again, we use this to improve upon the Dornoch Whisky Festival.
Google Analytics
When someone (like you!) visits www.dornochwhiskyfestival.com, we use Google Analytics to collect the standard information and behaviour patterns. Much like the points mentioned above, we like to know the number of visitors, where they are accessing the website from and again, this information is anonymous, and we cannot identify you through it. We also do not make or allow Google to make any attempt at finding out your identity.
Mailing Lists
The information mentioned above pertaining to newsletters and subscriptions is gathered using MailChimp. We do look at the way in which our subscribers interact with the newsletters, for example how many people open them, how many people follow the links and the dreaded: how many people delete them without opening them! Again, this allows us to make the newsletter more appealing, to look at where the content has had a good success rate and try to replicate this in future publications.
For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to our newsletter at anytime by following the link in the footer of the e-mail or through contacting us here.
Ticketing Data
When purchasing a ticket through the Dornoch Whisky Festival we ask for your name, address, email, contact number and payment method. This data is stored on our website that is hosted by WordPress, therefore when you purchase any tickets to the Dornoch Whisky Festival your details are held there.
We do not have access to your payment details as they are stored securely on PayPal or Stripe – depending on which option you make your purchase(s) with. We do have access to the data mentioned above, (name, address, email) which we use only as stated, to find out how to improve the festival.
Closer to the Dornoch Whisky Festival it is sometimes possible for you to buy tickets for some events in person and on the day, you can purchase your tickets for the Grand Tasting – neither method require you to give personal data. Again, you may pay by card, but we have no record of those payment details either as they are carried out by iZettle.
Third Parties
We do not share any of our data with any third parties. If this was to ever change, we will inform you and would never share your data without your consent.
Access to your personal information
You have every right to view, amend or delete your personal data that we hold and all that is required is an email stating you wish to do so here.
Changes to this Privacy Notice
The changes to this privacy notice have been updated on 21st September 2021 and will be updated again in October 2022.
